Science Based Targets

Ambitious climate commitment

Carbon neutral in our own operations by 2030

In June 2021, we became the first automotive safety supplier to announce its commitment to become carbon neutral in its own operations by 2030 and furthermore aim for net-zero emissions across its supply chain by 2040. These commitments place us among the frontrunners in the broader group of automotive suppliers. Autoliv's near-term emissions reductions have now been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.

We congratulate Autoliv on setting science-based targets consistent with limiting warming to 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement," "By setting ambitious science-based targets grounded in climate science, Autoliv is taking action to prevent the most damaging effects of climate change.
Alberto Carrillo Pineda, Managing Director, Science Based Targets at CDP

This is an important recognition, which should give our stakeholders confidence that we are serious about making our contribution to limiting global warming to 1.5°C. During the past months we have been detailing the necessary key initiatives for reaching our targets and are starting the implementation phase now. We will reduce our carbon emissions through use of renewable electricity in our own and supplier operations, by improving energy and materials efficiency, adopting low carbon logistics and low carbon materials, and developing attractive low carbon product offerings to support our customers in their transformation to electrified, zero emission vehicles. The implementation phase will be accompanied by a training program for the top management and all employees.
